Our Monthly meetings have been interrupted in the past few years due to COVID, so we have been experimenting with a mixture of in-person and online Zoom meetings.
At our in-person meetings tea, coffee, squash and biscuits are provided, with gluten/dairy-free, etc catered for. Sometimes we also have a bring and share buffet or a book swap. We often have a speaker who talks to us about various topics e.g. nutrition, equipment to help around the home, reflexology, etc. After the talk, there is usually time for members to chat.
Other times, we have social evenings which have no speaker and are an opportunity for members to chat over tea, coffee and biscuits. Tables are placed around the room for groups of around 5 or 6. We always ask that those who are able help us at the end, by putting away their own chair.
Whether in-person or at a Zoom meeting, carers, friends and family are more than welcome to join us. We understand you may be nervous or shy, but we are a friendly and supportive bunch.
If it's your first time visiting an in-person meeting, please tell the person on the door we'll have another member show you around.
In the case of Zoom meetings, please email Maria, our Chair Person, in advance and she’ll be sure to introduce you to the other online attendees.
Member-organised Socials at public venues have begun again too, details are shared in our newsletters and in our closed, Members only Facebook group.
If you would be interested, as a member, in hosting or organising a social or meeting in your area, please drop our Chair Person an email via the contact form on our Contact Us page.
